Quarterback Phillip Sims, who completed 7-of-14 passes against Kent State, is expected to receive plenty of playing time Saturday night against North Texas.
Although A.J. McCarron is the “unofficial” starter, Sims will have another opportunity to prove himself in front of the home crowd, and more importantly…Nick Saban.
Saban has yet to officially name a long-term starter at the quarterback position, so even though McCarron got the nod against Penn State, nothing is etched in stone.
Alabama enters conference play on Sept. 24 against Arkansas, so barring an injury to McCarron, the contest with North Texas could be Sims’ final opportunity to compete for the starting job in live game action.
