Do the Splits: Two-Quarterback System for ‘Bama

On Thursday night Nick Saban addressed the Alabama quarterback situation and acknowledged that both A.J. McCarron and Phillip Sims will receive equal playing time against Kent State.

Saban, who declined to name a starter, said both McCarron and Sims will play three series consecutively in a recurring cycle.

While many expect Alabama to adopt a two-quarterback system for the entire season, Saban did admit that Saturday’s game, from an individual standpoint, may go a long way in respect to “separating” McCarron and Sims for the future.

Alabama will play host to Kent State on Saturday, but the ‘Bama quarterbacks will play a “game within the game” for the principal endorsement of Nick Saban.
