Today is the first day of fall practice for the Alabama Crimson Tide football team.

The Tide veterans took the field this morning, and the newcomers/freshmen will practice this evening.

Nick Saban met with the media on Wednesday to go over some basic news concerning the 2010 roster.

The most notable news from Saban comes in respect to former ‘Bama safety Rod Woodson. Although Saban didn’t specify the reason(s), Woodson is no longer with the team and will transfer.

Simply based on what Saban had to say, one can only assume Woodson was dismissed from the team, rather than anything pertaining to his academic standing.

Coach Saban covered a variety of topics, so simply watch the video below to obtain more information concerning the 2010 roster and the availability of several Crimson Tide players.

In other news, the UA System Board of Trustees unanimously approved a contact extension for Alabama athletics director Mal Moore.

The new deal had been brewing, but had yet to become official until Wednesday.

The new contract will take Moore through June 30, 2014 and calls for a salary increase of $125,000. Moore will now make a total of $550,000 per year at the University of Alabama.

The contract also includes several incentives based on academic and athletic achievement.
