-Cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick (deep leg contusion) did not participate in individual drills.
-Nose guard Brandon Ivory (minor knee injury) adorned a black “non-contact” jersey during the Friday session.
-Arie Kouandjio (minor knee injury) was not on the practice field during the media viewing period on Friday afternoon. Kouandjio has been dealing with a knee ailment since Alabama’s “Fan Day” public practice on Aug. 7.
On Field Action:
-Redshirt freshman Blake Sims continues to take reps at the running back position, while freshman Phillip Ely has taken over as the third-team quarterback. Sims, who is very versatile, is expected to provide the Crimson Tide with a most unique offensive weapon in 2011.
Saturday Scrimmage:
-Alabama will hold a closed (general public and media) scrimmage at
1 p.m. tomorrow afternoon at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
