Regardless of age, playing experience or general skill and ability, having the proper football equipment is vital in respect to overall performance effectiveness and physical safety.
The evolution of football equipment is something every player, parent(s) and coach should be aware of each and every season. Football, like every sport, is a game of competition and skill, but safety should always be the primary concern.
In order to be the best on the field you must first have the talent, but in order to sustain you must have the best equipment.
The ability to compete to the best of your ability begins with aptitude, but it may very well end with the proper safety provisions and requirements.
If you’re a parent and your child wants to join a youth football league in the community or at school, you must understand the importance of safety and take all the proper measures to insure your child has the best (and most recent) equipment possible.
Never underestimate the importance of a proper helmet, ideal pads and other vital accessories…especially in youth football. Concussions and other head and neck injuries are more prevalent than ever in the game of football and having the proper equipment can dramatically reduce the chance of serious injury.
While your child may want to “look cool” or fashionable in certain equipment and attire, please pay close attention to the advice of the coaching staff and use your best personal judgment to underwrite to your child the importance of physical safety…over outward appearance.
