The Scent of Roses: Texas vs. Alabama

Image Hosting by imagefra.me

As the hours slowly tick away to countdown from the famed Rose Bowl in Pasadena, I can only think of “opportunity” as the appropriate theme for my final post before the national title game begins.

“This is the opportunity of a lifetime!”

We hear people use that expression many times to describe the emotions for a certain event or moment in time. However, is it really true? Is this really the opportunity of a lifetime?

If you’re a player, coach, or fan of the University of Texas or University of Alabama…playing for the national championship is the ultimate litmus test to prove that statement correct.

Whoever wants the “stage,” and is willing to accept the opportunity…will also win the game!

If you’re reading this, you obviously follow Alabama, Texas…or college football in general. You know who the key players are for each team, and you know the strengths and possible weaknesses for each team.

However, can you measure the “moment”…and the power of living in the “now?”

Living in the “moment” and taking advantage of a golden opportunity will be paramount in this game. Yes, the game plan is vital and key players will make key plays, but grasping the opportunity…is just as important.

Can you name any team who has played for the national championship…been unsuccessful…and won? Well, neither can I…and neither can anyone else.

The opportunity to play for “all the marbles” in the historic Rose Bowl is certainly a script composed of greatness, but greater is he who can shine in the spotlight and live in the moment!

I wish the best of luck to the Texas Longhorns and the Alabama Crimson Tide, as each team will conclude the journey of a “football lifetime” at the mecca of college football…THE ROSE BOWL…in Pasadena, California.

Live in the moment…accept the stage…and seize the opportunity!

The scent of roses will await the winner…but the scent of a champion will linger forever!

ALABAMA 30
TEXAS 20
