Climbing the Ladder: James Willis Leaves 'Bama

In the aftermath of the national championship, former inside linebackers coach James Willis has decided to depart Tuscaloosa, and become the defensive coordinator at Texas Tech.

Willis, who spent the 2009 season with the Tide, will be reunited with Tech coach Tommy Tuberville, whom he spent six years working with at Auburn.

Coach Willis will head to Lubbock, Texas with a championship ring, and he will also be a step higher on the “coaching ladder,” as he pursues the highest level of the profession.

Congratulations and thank you to James Willis for his success at Alabama, and his new position at Texas Tech.
