On Saturday, the University of Alabama football team hit the practice field for the first time since arriving in Southern California.

Alabama was originally scheduled to hold practice at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, but instead took the field at Costa Mesa High School.

The only notable injury is defensive back Marquis Johnson who has a fractured thumb. However, Johnson has been and will continue to work with the main defensive core despite having his thumb prominently wrapped.

Unlike a typical “road” or away game, Alabama has taken the majority of the football team to California. The travel additions include walk-ons and scout team members. Injured players Dont’a Hightower, Jeramie Griffin, and Damion Square also made the trip, and even hit the practice field wearing black no-contact jerseys.

Once practice was concluded, Nick Saban met the media for his official “introductory” press conference.

During the latter portion of the afternoon and early evening the Alabama players, coaches, and family visited Disneyland. Notable pictures show Nick Saban posing with Mickey Mouse, while defensive back Javier Arenas shakes hands with Pluto.

From his official Twitter account, Tide quarterback Greg McElroy said…”at Disneyland and am curious how much money this place makes in a day.”

Alabama will resume practice on Sunday (today) at Costa High School, in Costa Mesa, California.
