Tide's Tomlinson injures knee, surgery required

Redshirt freshman defensive end Dalvin Tomlinson sustained a knee injury during Wednesday's practice session. Per Nick Saban, the injury will require surgery.

Saban, following Thursday's practice, notified the media of Tomlinson's situation. While no official word was given as to the detailed nature of the injury, Saban noted that a timetable would be given after the surgical procedure.
Tide beat writer Andrew Gribble has more on the story...
Tomlinson, who was considered a vital reserve at the defensive end position, made his Crimson Tide debut against Virginia Tech.

In terms of a replacement on the depth chart, expect true freshmen Jonathan Allen and/or A'Shawn Robinson to fill Tomlinson's role.
