Curt Cignetti has been officially announced as the new head football coach at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Cignetti, the former wide receivers coach at Alabama, becomes the 11th head coach in IUP football history.
"I was ready to be the head coach," Cignetti said. "I was ready to wake up in the morning, set the agenda and work the plan. I really felt a special fit and bond with IUP. I knew they had been there before and could get there again."
Cignetti’s father, Frank, is the winningest coach in the history of IUP with a total of 182 victories from 1986-2005.
Prior to his arrival at IUP, Cignetti had been the wide receivers coach at Alabama for four seasons and also held the title of recruiting coordinator during his time with the Crimson Tide.
The desire to spend more time with his family was one of the reasons cited by Cignetti for taking the job at IUP.
