‘Bama Safety Mark Barron Arrested in Mobile

Alabama Crimson Tide safety Mark Barron was arrested early Sunday morning in Mobile and charged with hindering prosecution, which is a second-degree misdemeanor.

Mobile police say the Crimson Tide senior lied to authorities in order to protect his cousin who wrecked Barron’s car on I-10.

Barron was processed into the Mobile Metro Jail at roughly 7:30 a.m. and was released within the hour on $500 surety bond.

Barron’s cousin, Jamal Lang, will be issued a citation for leaving the scene of the accident.

Barron, who is recovering from pectoral surgery, is expected to play a vital role on the defensive side of the ball in 2011.

Amazing Spring Break in the Mexican Riviera

Guest post written by my buddy Keith Kramer

Last year for Spring Break, I and a total of seven friends decided to embark on a 7 day cruise to the Mexican Riviera. The all-inclusive cruise departed from the Long Beach cruise terminal, and had three ports of call scheduled. The ports of call were Acapulco, Zihuatanejo and Manzanillo.

The week before leaving for our cruise was hectic for most of us as it was the week of our final exams. While studying I took frequent breaks to pack my bags, do some research of our cruise destinations. I made sure to pack plenty of sunblock and plenty of clothes for fun in the sun. Finally when finals were over, I picked up my bags and headed towards the cruise terminal with friends. The last thing I did before leavi! ng was set my home security system (home alarm Systems) for my peace of mind.

The amenities on-board the cruise ship were fantastic. Plenty of entertainment, food, and bars. There were several pools on deck, some with whirlpools, as well as a gym and casino. The only thing better than being on the ship was relaxing on the beach at our various ports of call.

The University of Alabama received a verbal commitment from offensive lineman Brandon Greene on Saturday.

6-foot-6 and tops the scale at 295 pounds.

Greene becomes Alabama’s tenth verbal commitment for the 2012 season.

Spring practice for the 2011 season begins in two weeks and a total of four players will not participate.

Kerry Murphy, Kendall Kelly and Wesley Neighbors will not take part in spring drills due to medical hardships, while Glenn Harbin will be absent while he continues to work with the Alabama baseball team.

Defensive tackle Jesse Williams, who recently transferred to Alabama from Arizona Western Community College, had minor knee surgery last week but his recovery time should not impact his ability to partake in spring practice.

Julio Jones in Charlotte for Surgery

Former University of Alabama wide receiver Julio Jones will have surgery on Saturday in Charlotte, N.C. to repair a stress fracture in his foot. Jones will have a pin inserted to repair the fracture and recovery time should take six to eight weeks.

The fracture was discovered two days prior to Jones’ workout at the 2011 NFL Combine.

Jones ran a 4.39 in the 40-yard dash and recorded an 11-foot, 3-inch broad jump at the combine despite being injured.

Jones is considered a top 15-draft pick by many experts.
